DESCRIPTION:Actor\, playwright\, and author Carmen Aguirre is a Vancouver-b
 ased Chilean-Canadian artist with over eighty film\, television\, and stage
  acting credits. While still a student at Studio 58\, she wrote her first p
 lay\, “In a Land Called I Don’t Remember”\, which was published l in 
 2019 by Talonbooks. Since then\, she has written and co-written twenty-five
  plays\, including Chile Con Carne\, The Refugee Hotel\, The Trigger\, Blue
  Box\, and adaptations for the stage of Eduardo Galeano’s\, Jorge Amado
 ’s\, and Julio Cortazar’s work.\n\n\n\nFounder of The Latino Theatre Gr
 oup\, co-founder of The Canadian Latinx Theatre Artist Coalition (CALTAC)\,
  and a Core Artist at Vancouver’s Electric Company Theatre\, Carmen const
 antly facilitates Theatre of the Oppressed workshops for refugee groups\, i
 ndigenous communities\, and youth groups. In her writing\, she often explor
 es exile\, loss\, alienation\, and isolation themes.\n\n\n\nHer first book\
 , “Something Fierce: Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter”\, was publish
 ed in 2011 in North America\, the United Kingdom\, Holland\, and Finland. T
 he book won the CBC Canada Reads in 2012 and was nominated for national and
  international awards. Her second memoir\, “Mexican Hooker #1 and My Othe
 r Roles Since the Revolution”\, was published in 2016. It became a Globe 
 and Mail bestseller a week after publication and was named a best book of 2
