SUMMARY:Latin American Short Stories Reading Group with Alessandra Santos
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n \n\n\n\nVLACC invites you to join our monthly Latin
American Short Stories Reading Group for an evening of thoughtful discussi
on and community.\n\n\n\n\nVLACC is pleased to present the April session o
f our Latin American Short Stories Reading Group\, featuring Professor Al
essandra Santos from the University of British Columbia.\nDate: Tuesday\
 , April 14\, 2026\nTime: 6:30 to 8:00 pm\nLocation: Conference Room at Br
 itannia Community Services Centre\n(1661 Napier St\, Vancouver\, BC V5L 4X4
)\nThis session will focus on three remarkable short stories by Clarice Li
spector\, one of Brazil’s most influential and enigmatic writers:\n\nOs d
esastres de Sofia – The Disasters of Sofia (1964)\nA imitação da ros
a – The Imitation of the Rose (1960)\nA procura de uma dignidade –
In Search of a Dignity (1974)\n\nLispector’s fiction is known for its
psychological depth and philosophical intensity. In these stories\, everyda
y situations become moments of profound internal revelation. Through subtle
shifts in perception and language\, Lispector explores themes of identity\

and dignity. Her characters navigate quiet yet powerful transformations tha
t illuminate the complexity of inner life.\nThis gathering offers a welcomi
