Join us for an engaging evening of contemporary Mexican literature as we explore two thought-provoking stories by acclaimed writer Laia JufresaThe Cornerist and Back to the Land. Through sharp observations, subtle humour, and emotionally rich storytelling, Jufresa invites readers into worlds shaped by memory, belonging, and the complexities of modern life.

Facilitated by Dr. María Ignacia Barraza, this session will open space for conversation around themes of identity, community, displacement, and human connection. Whether you are already familiar with Laia Jufresa’s work or encountering it for the first time, this reading group offers a welcoming environment to reflect, discuss, and exchange ideas with fellow literature lovers.

No previous experience with Latin American literature is necessary; just bring your curiosity! The stories are available in both Spanish and English translations. The discussion will be held in English.
