LAHM Latin American Heritage Month – Día de Muertos Celebration
Día de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) is a tradition celebrated in Mexico from the last days of October until November 2nd. This multi-day holiday brings people together to pray, remember friends and family members who have died, and support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans do not see it as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awaken and celebrate with them.
An “Altar” (ofrenda) is created in honor of the deceased, and according to this tradition, people usually leave various offerings such as food, beverages, or items that were enjoyed by the deceased.
