Video Mapping Projection “Día de Muertos”

The video mapping  Projection will narrate the history of the Day of the Dead and some of its most important elements such as bread, the cempasúchil flower, among others, as well as its origin that goes back to pre-Hispanic cultures and some of its key passages such as Mictlán (the Mexican underworld), to how it is celebrated today. The final result will be a collaborative piece of art with elements from the community’s input expressed through the artist’s vision. In the projection there will be the names  of our loved ones. People will be invited to send the names of their dearly departed. We will have a 5 to 7 minute explanation before each presentation to share what this tradition means for Mexico and other Latin American cultures. There will be QR codes around the space for people to open up a microsite about the artpiece including a cultural explanation. People will be able to post on social media and interact among each other about what this means for them as well.
